Bob and I left Zelda at the house checking her eyelids for holes while we went looking for holes of a different kind. Golf variety.
I rented some clubs and we went at it at the Sky Mountain Golf Course. The course is owned and operated by the city of Hurricane it is a great little layout. A little short, from the tips it measure slightly over 6400 yards. But they are all beautiful yards. The fairways and tees were excellent, but the greens were pretty bumpy. I'm still not quite sure what the root (pun intended) cause was. But, they were more or less puttable.
This is the view from the front of Bob's home looking NE up the valley.
At this point I'll confess. I forgot to take my camera on the 6th, warranting a second day return engagement from which the following were taken.
Pretty in flight...a bane to golf course superintendents...and players on the ground. One had to be pretty careful of the goose poop laying around everywhere.
What can you say? The beauty is stupendous.
Each elevated tee more impressive than the next.
The Virgin River is meandering over behind the amazing uplifted rocks in the foreground.
(Yeah, I looked, but didn't see any.)
The Virgin River "gash."
Pine Mountain is the defining point for this area. Here, with clouds looking like smoke from the volcano which formed it.
After cleaning up we dropped Betsy off at the Kawasaki dealer for a needed oil change and check-up. Surprise, surprise, they found she needed a new rear tire, to the chagrin of my pocketbook, and the enhancement of theirs. But riding on worn tires is the equivalent of wearing a $10 helmet. One should only do it if one has a $10 head.
Another great southwestern dinner and we called it a day. A great day!
